Why an AC Might Blow Warm Air

Water Heaters - Westland HVAC + Plumbing

Stress can come quickly in a situation where an AC is blowing lukewarm or warm air from the air vents. Especially if temperatures are hot (which they are and probably will be for a while), you need your AC to start working properly if your home is going to remain comfortable.

First of all, we just want to reassure our customers that things are going to be okay. You can always call our team and explain to us exactly what the problem is, and we’ll diagnose it and repair it. You don’t need to do more than this when you’re in need of air conditioning repair in Berea, OH.

However, while you’re waiting for professional help, or if you need to know more about exactly what might be happening, then we urge you to keep reading. Lukewarm air coming from the vents is always a problem, and it’s one we urge customers to get fixed quickly.

The Compressor Is Shot

The compressor is the heart of your air conditioner, and it’s the component that’s responsible for actually cooling the air in your home. If there’s a problem with your compressor, your air conditioner might still send air through the vents of your home, but that air might not be cool or even comfortable. This is why a shot compressor is at the top of the list.

Many compressor problems can be fixed by a professional, but they can be expensive. This might be a good time to talk with your trusted HVAC technician and evaluate whether or not a replacement compressor or entire AC system would be a more cost-effective choice. Do your own research and be sure to think about the long-term!

There Is a Refrigerant Leak

Refrigerant is required for your AC to cool the air in your home. If your system starts losing refrigerant through a leak, it’s going to be unable to cool the air in your house properly. The blower system will still work and the AC will still send air through the air ducts as normal, but that air is probably going to be a fraction as comfortable as it should be.

There Is a Large Leak in Your Ducts

Check around your home and see if the warm air is universal. What we mean is see if there are any areas of your home where cool air is coming from the vent. If that’s the case, then the problem might not be with your air conditioner but with your ductwork.

Think about it this way: If cool air is in fact getting into the rooms of your home, then part of the ductwork must still be intact and the air conditioner operating correctly. However, if lukewarm air is coming from a specific set of vents, then perhaps there’s either something in your ductwork blocking the flow of cool air, or there’s a major leak allowing the cool air to escape while lukewarm air floods inside. Either way, call us to have the problem evaluated so we can fix it appropriately.

Call Westland Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing to have your AC and ductwork evaluated.
