Chillers are an alternate form of air conditioning common to offices and business spaces. Like traditional air conditioning systems, they use refrigerant gas to facilitate the cooling process. With chillers, however, the gas cools water rather than air, which keeps costs low while still providing solid air conditioning abilities for your business. Here in Avon, chillers are a common feature, which means that air conditioning repair companies are well versed in handling most kinds of service calls.
3 Common Repairs for Avon Chillers
- Pump problems. Chillers rely on pumps to circulate the water and ensure that it remains cool. If the pump experiences problems – if the motor shuts down for instance or there is a problem with the pressure – the water won’t circulate and the chiller won’t function. Most kind of pump problems involve a faulty part which must be replaced, though in some cases, the pump can be repaired instead.
- Low refrigerant. Like other types of air conditioner, chillers need refrigerant to facilitate the cooling process. When the refrigerant leaks, the cooling process is restricted and the chiller can’t do its job effectively. A technician needs to hunt down the source of the leak and seal it before it will work again.
- Thermostat problems. Chillers have thermostats and freezestats to make sure the water is at the optimum point. If such components are malfunctioning, the water will be insufficiently cold to function, or may become too cold and freeze in the lines.
